Gerardo Daniel Martino, commonly known as "Tata" Martino, is an Argentine football manager and former player. He was born on November 20, 1962, in Rosario, Argentina.
As a player, Martino primarily played as a midfielder and had a successful career in Argentina, Mexico, and Spain. He notably played for Newell's Old Boys and Tenerife, among other clubs.
After retiring as a player, Martino transitioned into coaching and has managed various clubs in Argentina, Paraguay, and Spain. He is best known for his successful tenure as the manager of the Paraguay national team, leading them to the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the finals of the 2011 Copa America.
Martino also had a brief stint managing Barcelona in the 2013-2014 season, where he won the La Liga title but resigned following the club's failure to win the UEFA Champions League.
Currently, Martino is the head coach of the Mexico national team, a position he has held since 2019. Under his guidance, Mexico has enjoyed success in international competitions and has maintained a high ranking in the FIFA World Rankings.
